Purpose of This Document
I have always believed in originality and have consistently supported artists and creative communities throughout my career. Creative work is driven by human vision, effort and intent. That has not changed.
I use AI strictly as a creative tool under my direct control. It does not replace creativity. Like instruments, recording equipment and software, it is a tool that responds to human direction. Refusing new tools does not protect creativity. It risks leaving creators behind as the industry evolves.
This document explains, in clear terms, why the distribution of my AI-assisted music on platforms such as Spotify and YouTube is lawful, ethical and compliant. It serves as a reference for collaborators, platforms and anyone raising questions about legality or safety.
Definition of AI-Assisted Music
AI-assisted music refers to songs where AI tools may be used to help generate or shape elements such as vocals, instrumentation or arrangement, while all creative direction, lyrics, structure, revisions and final approval remain with me as the creator.
AI does not decide what to make. It does not choose themes, write lyrics or define meaning. All intent and authorship come from human direction.
Ownership and Originality
All songs I release, now and in the future, are original works. This means:
-
Lyrics are original and written by me
-
Melodies and structures are not copied from existing copyrighted works
-
Titles, artwork, branding and presentation are original
-
No copyrighted audio, stems or samples are used as direct inputs
AI has no intent, judgment or authorship. Without human input, it produces nothing meaningful. Every creative decision, from concept to final release, comes from me.
Copyright protects original expression, not the tools used to create it. AI functions as a production aid, similar to synthesizers or digital audio software. Authorship and responsibility remain human.
Platform Compliance
Spotify
Spotify allows AI-assisted music as long as the uploader owns or controls the rights, does not impersonate real artists, and provides accurate metadata. AI use alone does not violate Spotify policies. My releases comply with these requirements.
YouTube
YouTube evaluates content based on copyright infringement and misrepresentation. Original AI-assisted music is permitted. Any Content ID claims are reviewed based on originality, which these works satisfy.
No Impersonation Policy
My projects do not:
-
Use the name, likeness, or branding of real artists
-
Claim that generated vocals belong to real individuals
-
Market songs as performed or created by existing public figures
This avoids identity, publicity, and impersonation issues.
Legal Basis
International Copyright Principles
International copyright frameworks, including the Berne Convention, protect original works of authorship. They do not prohibit or restrict the use of specific tools or technologies. What matters is originality and human authorship, not the method used to create the work.
Philippine Legal Context
Under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 8293), copyright protection applies to original intellectual creations. The law does not exclude works created with the assistance of software or automated tools, as long as the work results from human creative choices and direction.
Tool Neutrality
Copyright law is tool-neutral. Cameras, digital workstations, synthesizers and AI-assisted systems do not negate authorship. AI has no legal personhood and cannot own rights. Ownership and responsibility remain with the human creator who directs and finalizes the work.
On AI Training Data Concerns
Discussions about AI training data focus on the responsibilities of AI model providers. There is no existing law that prohibits the distribution of original AI-assisted music by end users. Streaming platforms operate under current legal frameworks and speculative future regulation does not affect present legality.
Final Note
I use AI strictly as a creative tool under my direct control, similar to other modern production technologies. All music I release is original, human-directed and authored by me, from concept and lyrics to structure and final approval.
Current copyright principles and platform policies focus on originality and human authorship, not on the tools used. Based on these standards, the distribution of my AI-assisted music on platforms such as Spotify and YouTube is lawful and compliant. Any questions regarding legality or platform safety should be assessed on these facts.
